How it works

What survives
- A GFM pipe table with the first row as the header
- Quoted fields containing commas, quotes or newlines kept intact
- Pipe characters inside cells escaped so the table does not break
What does not
- The first row is always treated as the header — a file without one gets its first data row promoted.
- Tab-separated .tsv files are not detected automatically; rename to .csv only if the file really is comma-separated.
- Very large CSVs produce very large tables, which are unwieldy in Markdown regardless of the converter.
Questions
What if my CSV uses semicolons?
Semicolon-delimited exports — common from European locales of Excel — are read as a single column. Replacing the separators with commas first is the reliable fix.
Is there a row limit?
No fixed limit. Everything runs in your browser tab, so the practical ceiling is your machine's memory rather than a server quota.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The converter is a WebAssembly build of the anydoc engine that runs inside your browser tab. Your file is read into memory, converted, and discarded when you close the page. Nothing is transmitted, stored, or logged.
